Plan for the commute
A live-out worker who has to cross between the Mainland and the Island can spend hours in traffic. For early starts or late finishes, consider a live-in job or say in your job post that you prefer applicants who live nearby.
Be clear about live-in terms
Every job post says whether the job is live-in or live-out. A live-in job must provide accommodation and feeding, so describe the room, the meals and the days off. Clear terms at the start prevent most disagreements later.
Agree transport costs
For live-out staff, agree in writing whether transport is included in the salary or paid separately.
You can post a job for any part of Lagos, for example Lekki, Ajah, Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Ikeja and Ikeja GRA, Yaba, Surulere, Magodo or Gbagada. Name your area (for example "Lekki Phase 1" or "Ikeja GRA") rather than just "Lagos", so applicants can judge the journey.
